HOUGHTON WEAVERS AND JON BUDWORTH CONCERT REVIEW 24 APRIL 2015

What a night again at the Unity Club, I had the privilege of opening the evening with a couple of songs in the Lancashire vein, before introducing our first guest Jon Budworth.

Jon showed all his guitar virtuosity in a great set of mainly self penned songs with a couple of Richard Thompson songs for good measure. He gave us a quality performance.

Then came our headliners the Houghton Weavers, who are now in their 40th year of performing. They are maturing like a good wine. Their warmth and talent produce an amazing ambiance which encourages the audience to join in all of the choruses, making them feel part of the performance. A great touch was asking myself and Jon Budworth to join them on stage for the encore.

Thanks to everyone who supported the concert and donated raffle prizes.Thanks to the rest of the team who have worked so hard to raise the funds for the festival; Maria Regan, Phil Regan Kevin Brady, Albert and Dianne, and Mervyn Rimmer. Thanks to the performers for this seasons fund raisers;
The Houghton Weavers, Bernard Wrigley, Marie Little, Gary and Vera Aspey, Jon Budworth, Pete Southworth, Mervyn Rimmer, Phil Regan, Steve Higgins and myself Ken Scally.

And finally thanks to our audiences, we could not have done it without your support. Roll on the 2015 festival. See festival section for the line ups.
